Nothing but trouble August 21, 2010 Karen S D Robinson (Loveland, CO USA) When it works, I like this product very much. I bought it to use the kindle emulator and read e-books, and when it works I enjoy it. However, I spent 6 hours on the phone with friendly but unhelpful HP people trying to get the virus protection working, as well as 9 more hours babysitting a download they started that never worked. The woman told me that the Norton that came with the machine "doesn't have virus protection". Every time I called them they tried to sell me something new (useless things like a lap pad) rather than fixing my existing problem. I finally had to pay a local repairman to install virus protection.
One serious design flaw is that you can't use the machine while both the battery and cord are in place. You have to turn it off to recharge the battery. If you want to use the cord to run it, you have to take out the battery. The HP guys told me this was why it would randomly turn itself off and not be able to boot again. But even when I stopped doing that, it still frequently won't boot and I have to take out the battery and start over.
I wish I'd bought this from amazon, because I'd really like to get a different machine. But since I got it from Office Max, I'm stuck with it.
Great mini! August 10, 2010 Nicole (Orlando, FL) I debated over a few different models for a month before finally deciding to go with the HP-Mini 210-1080NR. I need a light weight computer with good battery life for college. I'm so glad that I chose this one! The blue is really nice. I thought it looked a little too bright in pictures, but in person it's a nice color. The battery is a little larger, but it creates space for air to get through and lifts the keyboard to a comfortable typing place. The battery has lasted me the full amount - very impressed. I upgraded the RAM to 2GB and it's super fast.
Definitely really happy with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking for a netbook.
Very nice but ... it doesn't have Bluetooth July 28, 2010 Lilian Perez Monroy (Caracas, venezuela) So far, so good. I'm very happy with my Mini. I bought it because I had owned an HP Mini 1020 for over a year and was pleased with it. My change was because of more advanced technical specifications, such as: a bigger and faster HD(60GB vs. 250GB, muuuuuuch longer battery life (which means I don't have to carry the charger around anymore), prettier (it's red), VGA, ethernet and three USB connections, etc.
BUTS... I don't believe it: IT DOES NOT HAVE BLUETOOTH!!!! My other HP Mini, much simpler, had it. The Amazon product description said this one did but ... oh, surprise: no, it does not have it. That's why I gave it a 4 star rating. So what, I can live without bluetooth. =)
Great Netbook July 25, 2010 J. Blair (Ohio) After getting my netbook, I may never use a regular PC again. I take it with me almost everywhere. It is easily carried and used on the go. I am very pleased with my purchase. Windows 7 is a good operating system and the screen is clear and easy to view. About the only drawback is that it comes with just Windows 7 starter which has less personalization available than the other versions of Windows 7. But it does offer Window Anytime Upgrade to make upgrading easier. All in all, a great netbook.
HP Mini 210-1080NR July 20, 2010 Linda Coleman (California) Got this a month ago. So far so good. I love the size and portability. It is the perfect size to walk around the house and and tote in in your purse. The pre-install HP programs were a pain, my computer wizard brother removed and loaded with standard Windows office and made life easier.
It's a great little computer and meets my email and web surfing needs. The trade-off is the screen size is really, really, small and can be frustrating when trying to view a large page of web content. For the price its a great little tool!!!
